2005 Ridge Zinfandel, Lytton Springs

The wines are classic Dry Creek Valley. They show the potent, ripe boysenberry and blackberry of old-vine Sonoma Zinfandel, notes of leaf and briar, and the intricacy of multiple varietals. Acid and tannin are firm, yet not overwhelming; in youth, at least, fruit predominates. These balanced, powerful Zins become more nuanced with age.

2006 Ridge Zinfandel, Paso Robles

Fruit is combined from 10 vineyard sites, including three in Dry Creek,five in Alexander Valley and one in Sonoma Valley, creating a blend that shows zinfandel character supported by a dose of old-vine Carignane for more fruit and acidity, Petite Sirah and Syrah for depth of color, firm tannins and peppery spice and Grenache for briary fruit and lively tannins. The wine is fermented using native yeasts and aged for six months in air-dried American oak barrels. The wine is sensuous, with structure and tons of fruit. There is plenty of "drink me now" appeal that will hold strong for the next five years.
